I would like to
thank all the City of Industry Lions who assisted in whatever way to make our events successful. We are a small club but I
found out it's as much the quality as the quantity of our efforts that makes us what we are.
The District Governor
Larry Discus visited our club along with Vice District Governor Khan Kayum on Oct. 8.
This has been a
very a very eventful year so far. Our club conducted a couple of recent fundraisers: the biggst was the annual Industry Charity Pro Rodeo Oct. 9-11,
where the Industry Lions had a food booth and sold hot dogs, soft drinks and chips.
On Oct 9, we served
kids from surrounding schools. On the following two days, we served the guests. The members of the club assisted
in cooking the hot dogs and serving them to raise a significant amount of money to distribute to the charitable organizations
we budgeted for.
We started the year
with a July 4th food booth at La Puente City Park, serving pizza and drinks. Members of the club rolled up their
sleeves and sold pizza slices and whole pizzas to guests who came to watch the fireworks in the park. The event generated
considerable funds for the club to donate to charitable organizations who the club had budgeted for.
We are now collecting used
prescription glasses at several locations:
1. Walmart Optometry
Dept., 17150 Gale Ave., City of Industry.
2. Optometrists John
C. Nelson and Phillip D. Endicott, 19735 Colima Road, Rowland Heights (Albertsons Shopping Center).
3. Los
Angeles County Public Library, Hacienda Heights branch, 16010 La Monde St.
4. Puente Hills
Mall at Sears
Optometry Dept.
All projects that
Lions are involved in are critical. However this year we are assisting the following projects:
1. “Hear us
Roar”
2. SOLA (Special
Olympics of Los Angeles)
